How Editing My Novel, Raising My Vibration & Reclaiming Joy Changed Everything
🧡 If you’re new here—welcome! This is part of my “Dreams Don’t Expire” series, where I explore what it really means to keep showing up for yourself, one imperfect, beautiful day at a time.
⏳ The Week Rolls On… and On
It’s Monday. Again.
The week rolls around, the to-do list multiplies, and before you know it, it’s Friday and you’re wondering where the time went.
For those of you with kids—school holidays are probably in full swing, which I know can make time for anything feel scarce. For me, as a dog mum, I’ve got fur-babies underfoot and routines that still feel full—but I see you, and I get it. Life is busy, no matter what it looks like.
And yet here’s what I’ve come to realise: doing something small every day that connects you to your dream? It’s not a luxury. It’s a lifeline. It raises your vibration, your energy, and your whole outlook—and that shift doesn’t just impact you. It ripples outward.
💭 When Energy Dips, So Does Everything Else
If you’ve been following along, you’ll know I returned to work earlier this year. And to be completely honest—it hasn’t been smooth sailing. Anxiety and depression have gotten the better of me on more than one occasion, affecting my performance, and yes, my employability.
What I didn’t fully understand until recently was how deeply my energy—my vibration—was affecting not just me, but my husband too. We were feeding off each other’s low moods. It was a cycle. It was heavy.
Thankfully, with a few tweaks in medication, some honest conversations with my Psychiatrist and GP, and a little persistence, I’ve managed to claw my way back again.
I was told to expect dips—and I did—but after three years of serious mental health challenges, I’ll admit: I’m tired of the dips.
Actually, if I’m truly honest, it’s been a lifetime of them. But that’s a story for another day.
✍️ The Book, the Dream, and the Shift
One thing that’s helped me enormously over the past week? Reconnecting with my dream.
You may remember me mentioning my novel—the one I wrote without a plan, just raw inspiration. It’s messy, emotional, beautiful—and totally unstructured. It needs serious editing if it’s ever going to make sense to anyone but me.
So, I joined the Heart Breathings Rough Draft Challenge. And for the past week, I’ve been knee-deep in edits. It’s slow, it’s gritty, it’s hard. But oh my goodness, it has made my soul sing.
💡 What’s the Rough Draft Challenge?
This challenge isn’t just for writers! You can make it anything you want—
🖊 journal every day
🎨 work on a creative project
🎓 start a course
📸 build a habit or passion projectThe idea is simple: show up for your dream every day for a month.
That’s where the magic happens.
My energy? Through the roof.
My mood? Lighter.
This morning, I woke up excited—yes, excited—at the thought of working on my book. I wanted to skip the chores, ignore the laundry, and dive headfirst into editing.
That, my friends, is what following your dream should feel like.
🔮 Inspired by Spirit
Interestingly, this same message was echoed today by one of my favourite bloggers and intuitive guides, Nicole Cody of Cauldrons and Cupcakes.
Her reading today spoke about this very idea—finding and making time for the things that light us up. I’ve followed Nicole for years, and her gentle wisdom and spiritual insight always seem to land at just the right time.
It’s lovely when the universe lines up to confirm what your soul already knows.
🍰 Dessert First, or Dreams Later?
Of course, life doesn’t stop. Responsibilities still loom. And our dreams? They often get pushed aside for “later.”
It’s kind of like sitting down to a meal. Do you eat your favourite part first, or save it for last?
My sister always saved room for dessert. Me? I’d hoover the whole plate and somehow still make space for dessert—though I usually regretted it after.
It’s about balance, isn’t it?
Life. Dreams. Energy.
Finding that sweet spot where you savour the best bits before you’re too full, too tired, or too overwhelmed to enjoy them.
🌈 Start with the Dream
So this week, I invite you to take a look at your schedule.
Can you carve out just ten minutes a day to do something that lights you up? Something that makes your heart sing?
Your body will thank you.
Your vibration will thank you.
And so will the people around you.
When your energy lifts—everything shifts.
💖 Your dreams don’t expire—but they do deserve your time. 💖
